Patrick Smith

Patrick is an English law qualified lawyer (January 2006) based in London with over 20 years’ experience in the maritime industry and has led a number of high-profile, complex and award-winning transactions. He specialises in shipping finance, principally advising owners in the LNG, offshore and tanker industries, but also advises international banks, private equity and leasing funds and agency and trustee service providers. 

He has particular expertise in leasing (acting for lessees and lessors on conventional leases, Chinese leases and Japanese operating leases with call options (JOLCOs)) but also has broader experience of bilateral and syndicated loan financings, restructurings, swap documentation, the finance aspects of mergers and fleet acquisitions, loan portfolio sales, sale and purchase transactions, escrow arrangements and some sanctions and commercial shipping matters.
