Charlotte Fornø

Charlotte advises executive management, boards, and transaction teams on competition law and related regulatory matters where legal issues have a direct impact on strategic decisions, transactions, and commercial outcomes. She is part of Schjødt's integrated Scandinavian EU & Competition team and advises Danish and international clients across the Nordic region.

Her practice covers the full spectrum of competition law, including merger control, abuse of dominance, restrictive agreements, state aid, foreign subsidies (FSR), and foreign direct investment (FDI). She also advises on related regulatory regimes, including sanctions, export controls, and sector-specific approval requirements affecting transactions, market access, and business operations.

Charlotte advises on the competition and regulatory aspects of domestic and cross-border transactions, including merger control and foreign investment screening. She also advises on the allocation of regulatory risk and other transaction documentation where regulatory approvals affect signing, closing, or transaction certainty.

She also advises on behavioural competition law, investigations, and compliance, including abuse of dominance, distribution systems, dawn raids, leniency matters, and competition law compliance programmes. She regularly represents clients before the Danish Competition and Consumer Authority and the European Commission in investigations and regulatory proceedings. Her earlier experience from litigation before Danish and European courts continues to inform her advice, particularly when assessing enforcement strategy, regulatory risk, and how matters are likely to develop if ultimately tested before the courts.

Before returning to private practice, Charlotte held senior legal leadership roles in multinational companies, where she advised on competition and regulatory matters across multiple jurisdictions. Combined with her earlier private practice experience and her background from the EFTA Surveillance Authority, this gives her first-hand experience of how competition and regulatory issues are assessed within international businesses and how legal advice supports strategic business decisions.
