Carl advises clients in the international trade and shipping sectors, specialising in commodity trading, carriage of goods and charterparty disputes. His clients include some of the world's largest commodity trading houses, shipowners, cargo interests, P&I Clubs and freight forwarders.
Carl has extensive experience of advising on a range of matters arising under sale and purchase contracts, including disputes relating to delivery obligations, quality claims, cargo shortages, payment obligations and documentary credits. He is also regularly instructed to draft and negotiate sale of goods contracts.
In the shipping sector, Carl advises on a range of issues arising under charterparties, bills of lading and freight forwarding agreements. He is experienced in cases relating to the carriage of goods by sea and also advises freight forwarders on multimodal transport issues.
In addition to litigation in the English Courts and abroad, Carl has been involved with numerous international arbitrations under the rules of most of the major arbitral institutions.
