David advises clients on a wide range of non-contentious and contentious matters in the shipping, offshore and renewable energy sectors, with a particular focus on shipbuilding, offshore construction and energy projects. 

He frequently advises clients on the drafting and negotiation of shipbuilding, EPC and EPCIC contracts. David has also worked with BIMCO on sub-committees for the development of industry standard contracts, including CONVERSIONCON (which was published in 2022) and the Novation Agreement for Shipbuilding Contracts (2016). 

David also has considerable experience advising parties on issues arising during the construction of vessels and has represented both shipowners and shipyards in negotiating amendments to contracts and handling disputes relating to delay and disruption claims, variations and termination issues. 

He has also acted for clients on a range of high value, complex and multi-jurisdictional disputes in the shipping and energy sectors. His experiences includes handling disputes concerning shipbuilding contracts, charterparties, offshore services contracts and collisions. 

David's recent experience includes advising on shipbuilding contracts, repair contracts, EPC contracts, wreck removal contracts, framework agreements, operation & maintenance contracts and charterparties for LNG carriers, FPSOs, FLNGs, wind turbine installation vessels, offshore support vessels, cruise liners, passenger ferries and superyachts.
