Jonas specialises in litigating complex commercial disputes. Jonas has considerable experience of litigating in the High Court, the Court of appeal and before arbitration Tribunals under all the main institutional rules (including LMAA, LCIA, ICC, GAFTA, FOSFA as well as ad hoc, both in the UK and abroad.

Jonas has a particular focus on shipping and acts for ship owners, operators and their insurers, as well as other shipping companies and shipyards, predominantly in Europe but also elsewhere. He assists his clients in relation to a wide variety of issues arising out of their business, from the drafting and negotiating of contracts, to the litigation of both ‘wet’ and ‘dry’ disputes. On the ‘dry’ shipping side, Jonas deals with the negotiating, drafting and litigating of disputes arising under all forms of contracts of affreightment,
including bills of lading, charterparties and COAs, as well as shipbuilding and shipmanagement contracts. As a ‘wet’ shipping lawyer, Jonas has experience of dealing with collisions, fires and explosions, groundings, and salvage.

Away from shipping, Jonas has a growing practice acting mainly for contractors in the off-shore energy sector, with a particular focus on major international off-shore wind projects.

Before joining Schjødt in April 2020 Jonas spent 11 years at the leading shipping and off-shore firm, Ince, joining as trainee and rising through the ranks to become partner in 2018.
