Jan Fougner
Partner, PhD
Jan is part of Schjødt's dispute resolution department and specialises in litigation and arbitration. He has extensive litigation experience across a wide range of legal areas, including contract law, administrative law, human rights, labor law, and criminal law.
In addition to handling disputes, Jan advises businesses on change management processes, out-of-court crises and conflicts, regulatory issues, and compliance matters.
Jan is admitted to the Supreme Court of Norway and has litigated a large number of cases involving contract law, petroleum taxation, administrative law, human rights, labor law, and procedural law, among others.
He is also a Professor II at BI Norwegian Business School. Jan graduated from the University of Oslo. He holds a PhD from the University of Aarhus and completed Harvard Law School's "Leadership in Law Firms" program.
Prior to joining Schjødt, he was a partner at Wiersholm and an attorney at the Office of the Attorney General, representing the Norwegian government in a vast number of litigation cases.
