Bård Standal is part of Schjødt’s Energy team in the Oslo office and primarily advises clients in the energy sector on regulatory and commercial matters across the energy value chain. He has particular experience in power markets, grid development and renewable project development, including EU/EEA regulatory frameworks. 

In addition to energy-sector advisory work, Bård assists clients across industries with corporate governance, risk management and compliance matters, including investigations, crisis management and complex stakeholder processes. Bård has more than 20 years of experience from senior in-house and leadership roles in the energy sector and other regulated industries. 

Prior to joining Schjødt, he served as Deputy CEO at Fornybar Norge, where he led policy work related to power markets, grid development, EU relations and security of supply. He also served as the Norwegian board member of the European industry association Eurelectric and as Deputy Chair of the Board of SINTEF Energi. He has previously held Senior Vice President roles at Statkraft and Orkla, and served as Chief Financial Officer and later Chief Risk Officer and General Counsel in a listed insurance company. 

Earlier in his career, he worked as legal counsel at Statoil (now Equinor) and later as General Counsel for its listed downstream business, Statoil Fuel & Retail. Bård holds a Cand.jur. from the University of Oslo (2004) and an MBA in Strategy from NHH Norwegian School of Economics (2007). He is fluent in Norwegian and English.
