Bente Eide Fossmark

Bente specializes in financial regulatory matters, with particular emphasis on compliance, insurance, and ongoing legal support to regulated entities. In her current role in Schjødt’s Financial Regulatory and Asset Management department, she advises domestic and international clients on regulatory compliance, the establishment and maintenance of compliance frameworks, and matters relating to customer and distribution agreements and operational legal support.

She has extensive experience assisting insurance companies, fintech companies, investment firms, fund managers, crypto-asset service providers, and other financial institutions with their day-to-day compliance work, including internal governance and control, implementation of regulatory requirements, and alignment with Norwegian and EU/EEA regulations. Bente also works with product development, regulatory assessments, and advises on the establishment, restructuring, and wind-down of businesses.

Prior to focusing on financial regulation, Bente gained experience in property development and real estate transactions, including due diligence, planning and building law, dispute resolution, and drafting of development agreements.

Bente joined the firm in 2022. Prior to joining Schjødt full time, she completed traineeships at Schjødt and several other law firms. She was awarded the Schjødt scholarship in spring 2022 for her master’s thesis on development agreements. She also participated in an exchange program at Ramon Llull University. Bente holds a Master of Laws from the University of Oslo.
